25 abstracts entered the competition for the best student presentation. The Organising
Committee decided to distribute two awards for both the best lecture and for the best
poster presented. A special committee carefully examined all student presentations and
decided to give the awards.

The awards were presented to Federica Vatta and Christopher H. Mueller by Jaakko Malmivuo, president of the ISBEM, during
the final closing session of 3rd ICBEM.
